Shapwick Squirrels: Contact Mary Powell, Kate or Soma via this website

Shapwick Squirrels is a small friendly preschool group for children aged 2 to 5 years, which has been running for over 30 years. The group is open every morning 9.30am-12.30pm with an optional lunchtime session until 1.30pm on some days. They meet in Shapwick Village Hall and make good use of the amenities of the village such as the church and cricket club. Squirrels has a staff of 5, with 3 qualified to Level 2 or above. The Supervisor has a Master's Degree in Preschool and Primary Education. With a small group and a high adult:child ratio the group is able to help each child develop to their full potential. They believe in working closely with parents and invite them to visit whenever they like. They work towards the Early Learning Goals in the six areas of learning and provide a variety of both structured and independent activities for children to explore. Shapwick Squirrels also host a Toddler Group one morning per week which helps children to settle in and get to know staff and children.

The 2006 season was the most successful ever in the 80+ year history of the Club.  The 1st XI won the Shrubbery Hotel Somerset League Division 1 title and also the Somerset Minor Cup for the first time ever. As a result, they will compete in 2007 in the West of England Premier League. The 2nd Xi were also champions of the Shrubbery Hotel Somerset League Division 3SW and consequently were promoted to Division 2.
